Author(s): Dr. Shambhu Dutt Jha
Abstract: Gandhi’s concept of an ideal India or "Ramrajya is inceed mediaeval in matxaxax nature, Some Indian leaders like Subhash Chandra Bose, spoke out against Gandhi's school of thought symbolized by the Separmah. Bose attacked Gandhi's attempt to takes India "back to the 5 days of bullock-carts." According to Gandhi, the meaning of civilization was conduct which points out to man the path of same duty." Gandhi pictured that in the Indian civilization there would be progress. The tendency of the Indian civilization was to elevate the rural being, that of the Western civilization was to propagate immo-relity.......it behaves every lover of India to cling to old Indian civilization as a child clings to the mother's breast." In the India of Gandhi’s dream these will be no room for Western civilization." Drive out Western civilization. All else will follow, Gandhi said. In Gandhi's ideal India there is no place for the railways: They are the carriers of plague germs......Railways have also increased the frequency of famines because, owing to facility of means of locomotion, people sell out their grain and it is sent to the dearest market. Bad men fulfil their evil design with greater rapidity."
