Regulation structure of private coaching in India

Author(s): Dr. Ashok and Rajesh Kumar Jangir

Abstract: Private coaching has a global presence. The intensity and size of private coaching are increasing with the expansion of the regular education system. Private coaching is available for supplementary academic help, enhances the ability to crack examinations for admission in limited prestigious higher education institutions and acquire a competitive edge in examinations for better employment. This private coaching sector is unorganized in India. An optimal regulation is essential to make this private coaching more transparent and efficient. Though a few states in India have undertaken regulatory steps, these steps are fragmented and scattered. The Ministry of Education, Government of India issued guidelines to regulate the private coaching institutions. In this article, the existing regulation structure is being critically discussed.
