Abstract: Sudha Murty through her narratives represents feminism by digging deeply into the psychological as well as emotional realities of her female characters whom she portrays through her work. The novels written by her often deals with the topics of female oppression by the male hegemonic societal framework. Most of the female protagonists depicted by Murty in her works go through a phase of transition where they are seen to progress in life with the quest of personal identity; and after battling with innumerable impediments finally they accomplish in their mission or sometimes they could not achieve their aim due to various vagaries of life. In this paper the focus is on the depiction of gender discrimination, conjugal conflicts and identity of females, by Sudha Murty where she tries to focus on the problems of married women. The author protests against the suppression of women’s rights and stereotyping roles of women in a patriarchal society. This paper also aims to liberate women from the responsibility of her family and many other accountabilities given on her without their knowledge. The focus of this paper is to scrutinize the manner in which Sudha Murty's works were impacted by feminism.
